Emails, Newsletters and Blasts! Oh My!!

As we all know, the Corona Virus COVID-19 crisis has us all sheltering at home and keeping our distance from our fellow citizens.  I’ve been using  blast emails to convey information to ARRL members in the Section.  Unfortunately only 60% of our you our membership has signed up for any ARRL services including receiving my or our Division Director’s blast emails, or newsletters from ARRL. I encourage all of you to sign up to receive these important emails and newsletters.  There is no cost for these.

For information on how to sign up visit the ARRL Webpage,  sign in and go to your personal data section.  There is an option to sign up for the emails from me and the Division Director and to sign up to receive newsletters on a variety of subjects.  If you have questions, please contact me at: w5wi@arrl.org

Holiday Season and Year End Thank You

As we move through the holiday season and approach the end of the
calendar year reflection on the year past is on our minds. I think of
the advances we’ve made in amateur radio, especially in the West Texas
Section and the people that have made it happen and continue to make it
happen.

As Section Manager I rely on my Assistant Section Managers, our
Affiliated Club Coordinator, and our Public Information Coordinator who
also serves as our Section Webmaster and our emergency management folks.
Thank you for your time and effort you put forth in support of our
fellow hams.

Our Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) staff do a tremendous job at
helping keep our community’s safe by giving selflessly of their time
and providing their own equipment to serve their respective communities.
Working with government and other agencies, ARES members provide much
needed communication support when infrastructure goes down or is
overloaded.

The ARES Section Emergency Coordinator, District Emergency Coordinators
and County Emergency Coordinators and their teams are the front line
folks that serve our communities in times of crisis. These individuals
put forth innumerable hours in training and emergency preparedness to
ensure professional support is available for their communities in times
of need.

Thank you ALL for your efforts and professionalism!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dale

Field Day June 22-23, 2019

Dale Durham, W5WI, Re-elected WTX section Manager

Time flies!  Field Day this year has caught a lot of us by surprise.
This year June has five weekends and since Field Day falls on the fourth
weekend of June, many of us are not ready.

In checking the Field Day locator on the ARRL webpage I don’t see many
West Texas Section clubs listed as having Field Day activities.  If your
club is planning on participating in Field Day and they are not already
listed on the Locator, please do so.
