Welcome to the Emergency Communications portion of the West Texas Section Website.
Emergency Communications is a valuable function of the Amateur Radio Service to the public. Important enough that it is included in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 41 Part 97.1(a). In the West Texas Section, we have several different groups that offer opportunities for the Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) to participate in serving our communities. The missions of these groups vary from reporting weather observations during severe storm events (SKYWARN), aiding non-governmental agencies with disaster event response, and aiding in the continuance of governmental operations during communication outages.
The different Emergency Communications organizations are listed below with links to statements of the purpose, qualifications for participating, and current activities of each available by clicking on the title.
Please explore the information and join any of them that pique your interest. All of them need help.
The West Texas Section Emergency Communications Tab is a resource for WTX Section ARRL members participating in Emergency Communication activities. Announcements of and Information about National, West Gulf Division, and/or Section-wide events, initiatives, training, and exercises will be posted here. After Action Reports for our West Texas Section events and exercises will also be posted here.
