The Hurricane Watch Net activated Friday, October 9, at 8:30 AM EDT in support of Hurricane Isaias. HWN concluded operations Saturday, October 10, at 12:00 PM ET (1600 UTC).
During the activation, HWN operators monitored conditions, collected and forwarded significant weather and post-storm reports, and stood ready to assist with emergency, priority, and outgoing Health and Welfare traffic.
We extend our sincere thanks to the many daily users of 14.325.00 MHz and 7.268.00 MHz for allowing HWN the use of these frequencies during the activation. Having clear frequencies is essential. It enables our operators to hear those in affected areas and provide the communications support needed during and after a landfalling hurricane.
We also thank every HWN member who gave of their time to serve during this activation.
The Hurricane Watch Net continues to keep those affected by Hurricane Isaias in our thoughts and prayers.
