Three earthquakes hit West Texas late Monday night, according to officials.

West Texas was rattled by a series of earthquakes, including a 4.9 magnitude event, Monday night in Scurry County.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Scurry County was rocked Monday night by a reported 4.9-magnitude earthquake.

Most of the reports emanated from the larger communities in the region, according to the USGS, including Lubbock, Midland, Big Spring, San Angelo and Abilene.

There were no initial reports of injury or damage.

West Texas is not unfamiliar with moderate earthquakes, although most produce little to no confirmed damage.
