It’s Christmas Eve and it’s hard to get my mind wrapped around Christmas, winter and the New Year being just around the corner. Especially when it’s 82 degrees outside!
I thought I’d take a minute to reflect on this past year. The COVID situation has really put a damper on our getting together at Hamfests, club meetings and other gatherings. Thankfully, we have been able to try to return to our normal activities while being more attentive to our health and well-being. The West Texas spirit of rugged individualism and self-sufficiency has shone through during these troubled times.
I am truly honored to be your Section Manager and I appreciate each one of you for who you are and what you do to make our wonderful hobby what it is today. We are communicators and though we have been forced to remain at a distance from each other we can still interact through the magic of radio, with a bit of the internet and Zoom added for emphasis.
As ham radio operators we strive to serve our friends and neighbors. Thank you all for what you do to provide community service and to help protect your communities in times of need. I know you all stand ready to answer the call when we are needed.
On behalf of my wonderful team I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and happy New Year!
