Good afternoon ARES and RACES members! This email contains some important information.
There is a state level alerting exercise that will take place on April 2, 1000-1200 local. This is focused as a statewide test of public alerting systems (sirens, mass text alert, etc.) that are already in place and utilized from time to time such as for severe weather.
This is a great opportunity for us to test our alerting and communication across the section.
With that in mind, All ARES & RACES members that are able to participate are requested to complete the following:
1) Send a winlink checkin (telnet or rms) to N5QNS and W5JDO with the following information. This applies for the WTX section:
1) How did you receive the public alert (text, sirens, email, etc.)
2) What time did you receive the alert
3) If this had been an actual emergency, would you be able to respond
2) Lubbock Area: There will be a short net on the 444.450 (114.8 tone) repeater at 1100. Checkin to the net with the above information if not able to send via winlink.
3) Section Wide: HF Net on 40m, 7.255 or if busy, move down by 5 KHz increments till you locate the net. Net time: 11:30am
